Safety

We make no bones about it. What we do is dangerous. The most important thing that any participant in an AKX event must consider is their personal involvement in ensuring their own safety.

Rescue

SHIT HAPPENS!!! We have assembled a rescue crew for that contingency. We don't have a helicopter for this operation so we must rely on snowmachines, planes, and good old-fashioned wilderness rescue skills to get out of the backcountry. Weather can get nasty quickly. Everyone participating with AKX will go through a rescue orientation and briefing. It is also expected that each participant has current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Snow Science

A major component of operating in a mountain environment is understanding what is going on in the snow pack. Our operations and production teams use the information gathered by our science crew to make decisions about where we might go on a given day. Let's set the record straight right now. AKX is not a guide service. Each person participating this year is expected to be a member of a team. We will all do our best to avoid getting caught in avalanches or endangering any member of our crew or other individuals who are enjoying the backcountry.
